Members of the Hispanic Committee of Culpeper collaborate with Healthy Culpeper to plan and implement an annual cultural celebration of Hispanic food, entertainment and cultural traditions. The event is usually held each May in downtown Culpeper.
Members of Healthy Culpeper have collaborated to form a committee that provides food commodities (staples) for low-income families in Culpeper County. The distribution is held each month at Culpeper United Methodist Church (1233 Oaklawn Drive), from 9-11 a.m. The Culpeper Connector provides drop off and pick up transportation to the church.
Families that are income eligible will be enrolled to receive food commodities on a monthly basis. Households that receive Food Stamps or Medicaid or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) are automatically eligible. Please be there on time-registration and distribution takes a little time.
VOLUNTEERS are always needed for unloading, packaging and distribution
WHEN: Fridays and Saturdays around the distribution dates
Family Fun Nights
The members of Healthy Culpeper’s Early Childhood/Youth Committee collaborate to provide events and activities focused on different topics important to families and young children. Some of the topics have included positive discipline, literacy, and fitness/health.
Law Explorers (Law Enforcement Explorer Scout Program)
This initiative is chiefly sponsored by the Culpeper Town Police with some assistance from Healthy Culpeper to provide Culpeper youth interested in law enforcement a unique opportunity to receive training in several aspects of law enforcement and to serve their local community.
Lewis Parr Armstrong Dental Clinic
The members of the Dental Working Group collaborate with Healthy Culpeper to run this all-volunteer clinic to serve adults in Culpeper. Visits are scheduled by appointment only. This clinic is named in honor of Dr. Lewis Parr Armstrong, a dedicated community member and dentist in Culpeper who practiced for 25 years before his untimely death in 2003.
